Beijing is a kind of
continental monsoon climate. The annual average temperature
and rainfall is 10-12¡æ and 600 mm. It is hot and wet in
summer, cold and dry in winter. The temperature is from
-7 to -4¡æ in Jan. and 25-26¡æ in July. There are100 to
130 frost-free days in one year.

The Great Wall
Construction of the Great Wall lasted
for more than 2,000 years, from the state of Chu in the
seventh century B.C. to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and
it ran through more than 20 feudal kingdoms and states
ruled by dukes or princes.
Apart from the complex of immovable
palace buildings, the Palace Museum houses over 1.5 million
items or sets of relics. Over 8,000 of them are designated
as first-class relics.
The Summer Palace landscape,
dominated mainly by Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake, covers
an area of 2.9 square kilometers, three quarters of which
is under water. Its 70,000 square meters of building space
features a variety of palaces, gardens and other ancient-style
architectural structures.
